Were those the original words Jon said in the comics? They do work at a level that would have eluded me in 4th grade.
Wow… it does work.
Garfield is perhaps the worst comic that the Washington Post carries (others in the running are Beetle Bailey, Hagar the Horrible, and Prickly City). I find it hard to believe that Garfield was so popular when we were in elementary school… is it just humor that appeals to the 8-year old set, or has it really just gone downhill?
The Family Circus suffered a similar quality crash in the 90s, but I believe it’s gone through a renaissance of sorts in the past few years. Perhaps the elimination of Garfield from Garfield could spark a similar renaissance of that strip.
I think Family Circus should continue to run their strip but have them all use the same caption: “This shit ain’t funny.” Maybe we could see a mock-up on this site?
