Up now at The Hype Machine is a feature called 52 Songs for 2005. There is all kinds of good stuff in there from the last year. Not all of it is new for 2005, but all of it was of interest to the visitors there. Most of it is stuff I don’t know, but there are a few here and there that I am familiar with. I especially like M.C. Lars with Mr. Raven. Funny stuff.
Speaking of funny, are you aware that Home Movies is back? This show seems to be one that slipped under the radar of even many Adult Swim viewers. I still contend that it is the best thing currently on television, even though there are no new episodes. All three seasons are now out on dvd too, so you can just go pick them up, as I have done. Give it a few episodes, and I think you will like it too. Playing now on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Monday through Wednesday at midnight. TiVo it or something if that is too late for you.
I also didn’t mention that I got a MobiBlu Cube for Christmas. This little mp3 player isn’t nearly as chic as the Nano for example, or as powerful as some larger models, but it is small, and achieves its coolness on that fact alone. It is really tiny for a 1GB player, and has a small screen to display track information and such. There is also FM radio on the thing, which I like. The really cool thing is that nobody has this thing, unlike the apple versions. I’m not really all that much of a mobile music guy, but I love my new toy.
