I was never really very hip. I wouldn’t have considered myself at the fore of any sort of movement. Still, as of late I can definitely feel the aging setting in. The music that the kids are listening to these days seems more and more like crap. Even though I wasn’t hip then, and I certainly won’t be now, I am starting to again feel an urge to get some idea of what is going on outside of the sheltered world I have created for myself.
To that end I have decided to start tracking a little of what is going on in music, by occasionally perusing a site that serves as an aggregator for music blogs. I’m not likely to have enough energy to read all of the blogs, but I can listen to a little music here and there. The site is The Hype Machine. I may periodically mention things here if I find things I like. It is entirely likely that the things I mention will be well known to others, but totally new to me. Such is the lot of the aging anti-hipster.
My favorite so far today is Paralyzed by Dave Ingles.
Actually that is sort of anti-hip isn’t it?
You’re only going to hurt yourself.
