<description>Yes, this weekend Babs and I saw the Batman movie. I really enjoyed Christian Bale in the title role; with Batman Begins ruling the roost at the box office I hope this means a recurring role as Bruce Wayne for Bale as well as the possibility of other big blockbusters falling his way. Maybe in the next one Bruce Wayne will explain to The Joker the nuances and beauty of the Huey Lewis &amp; The News ouevre.

And Gary Oldham in the role of Gordon? Great. That defeated/distant look in his eyes and the mustache all worked quite nicely for me.

I liked what Nolan did, and his imagining of Gotham totally worked. It was more more of a realistic city, as opposed to what Burton did in the first. I think Nolan made the right choice, as what Burton did was done, and to keep it up would have been a bit campy. The franchise was in dire need of fresh vision.

I also wanted to point out the part when the grown Bruce Wayne returns to the cavern he fell into as a child. It could have been so trite and melodramatic, but in the context of the film Nolan and Bale made it work.

Thought some of the editing was splotchy and abrupt, especially at the beginning. Funny how the Scarecrow was both so young and easily dismissable. Oh well.

On a totally unrelated note, yes the save the date card is quite heavy but oh so delightful.
