Letter of Complaint to the Bank of America

I am going to close my account on monday the 23rd of May 2005 when the hold that you have placed on my deposit comes off. I just wanted you all to understand that this was not just that I am closing my account for no reason, but rather that I am fed up with the Bank of America. I made the mistake of depositing a check from another account I have at a different bank without realizing they had placed a hold on the deposit there. Your bank then returned the deposit and charged me five dollars. Fair enough, as it was my own fault for not paying attention. I was also charged an NSF fee of $30 during the time before the redeposit. Then after the check went through the second time it had a hold placed on it. This is wrong, it seems to me. After years of holding an account I doubt I would turn to fraud for $1500 or something. After this hold was placed, two automatic items went through my account, and I was charged an addition $60 in NSF fees. The money is sitting there but now won’t clear until a seven day hold clears. That does not make me happy.

I am certainly not the best at handling my money, and when I get an NSF fee, as I sometimes do, I usually kick myself for allowing the mistake, but I don’t blame the bank. In this situation I am not prepared to bear the full weight of the blame.

Losing my meager account isn’t going to be the end of the world for an operation such as the Bank of America, but I’m sure if you (the bank, not the innocent person who has to read this) had done a little work to keep me just a tiny bit more satisfied, it certainly would have been worth more than the piddly $95 this is all about.

Thank you for your attention

You said, “B of A, GET UP OFF MY NUTTS!”

I had something similar happen with Wells Fargo a few years ago and still hold a grudge!

Banks that engage in weasel-y behaviour should be boycotted as widely as possible.

Actually, come to think of it, I think my wife is having issues with her B of A account right because of some stupid hold on a check I wrote to her!

Willie Sutton, was a strong advocate of consumer banking reform. I think of him alot when I have dealings with banks and bankers.

bank of america — don’t go there! You will be feed to death, this fee, that fee, they are famous for charging the consumer with exhorbitant fees. Also, their customer service is terrible. A friend of mine had $250 charged on his credit card without his signature in April and he is still getting the runaround. He asked for a copy and sure enough, it was not his signature. The address on the bill of sale was not his, it had been scratched out. The purchase was for women’s sunglasses. Don’t you think BOA could resolve this quickly? How does one file a complaint? I would think if the locale bank manager couldn’t resolve this, my friend should put his complaint in writing. Any comments. Similar experiences?
