I bet that the bookstore by Espresso Metro down at Sac City would have some useful textbooks; SCC had classes like that, right? Also, you can buy a $15 dollar textbook with a twenty and get back two $2′s and a $1 bill.

Guinnie Bird, happy new year! Those before and after pics of your handiwork are amazing. Mac the knife came over last night, which reminded me to look at your site. For architecture, are you interested in history-of or how-to-design-buildings (or both)?

A pair of approachable books on the how-to-design side are “A Pattern Language” and “The Timeless Way of Building” by Christopher Alexander (and other co-authors).

What sort of engineering interests you? To get very far with engineering, you’ll need calculus and intro physics. The best calculus book, by far, is Michael Spivak’s “Calculus,” now in its 3rd edition, but it teaches calculus from a mathematician’s point of view, not an engineer’s.
